——- Born in Zaragoza and graduate as Industrial Engineering, he began his musical training as a violinist. In 1980 he moved to Barcelona to study violin with Eva Grauvin at the Municipal Conservatory of Barcelona and later started his singing studies, specializing in Gregorian and Baroque chant with the teachers Joaquin Proubasta and Francisco Lara.His operatic studies started with the Master Dolores Aldea and introduced into the knowledge of the oratorio and lied receiving lessons from Paul Schilahawsky and Dalton Baldwin, specialist in french music. In 1996 he received a scholarship  from the European Community to take classes with the Master Margarita Lilowa in Barna, Bulgaria. He completed his training by attending courses and masterclasses with internationally recognized figures in the world of music as Magda Olivero, Aldo Baldin or Jeerzy Artysz.Francisco Vas makes his debut in Giravolt de Maig by Toldrà at the Teatro Romea and later in Il Barbiere di Siviglia at Teatre Vitoria in Barcelona.

In 1994 in he make his England’s debut in Il Barbiere di Siviglia quickly followed by a tour of the south of France with Beppe in Rita (Donizetti), Ferrando in Così fan Tutte, Tamino in Die Zauberflöte (Mozart) and Paris of La Belle Hélène (Offenbach) among others.

Consolidates his career in Spain, appearing regularly in the seasons of theaters such as the Teatro Real, Euskalduna, Opera Theatre of Santiago de Compostela, Oviedo Opera, Teatro de la Zarzuela in Madrid, Granada Festival, Festival Castell de Peralada and the Maestranza Theatre in Seville. Among his most prominent it would underline their appearances at the Teatro Real as Schmidt in Werther, Don Riccardo in Ernani, Lord Arturo in Lucia di Lammermoor, the world premiere of La Señorita Cristina by Luis de Pablo, L’enfant et les Sortileges by Ravel and Beppe in Rita by Donizetti. Noteworthy his participation in the world premiere of Babel 46 by Montsalvatge at the Festival Castell de Peralada, then he sing this opera at the Gran Teatre del Liceu and the Teatro Real in Madrid.

Francisco Vas develops his concert career singing in the most important theaters across Europe. It should be highlighted his interpretations of Bruckner’s Requiem, Mozart’s Mass in C, Song of the Forests by Shostakovich, Verdi’s Requiem and Mozart’s Requiem.

In 2001 he debuts at the Teatro Sao Carlos in Lisbon in the role of Fenton in Falstaff (Verdi) in the acclaimed production by Herbert Wernicke. Success to be followed by other productions such as his interpretation of Minister Pang in Turandot at the Theatre de la Bastille in Paris, a performance received great critical and public acceptance in 2002

Tied to the Gran Teatre del Liceu, he makes his debut ther in the 1993-1994 season with a lyrical recital. From then he regularly participates in Theater’s seasons. Among his most remarkable appearances are the Incredibile in Andrea Chénier, Scaramuccio of Ariadne auf Naxos, Casio in Otello, Guillot de Morfontaine in Manon, Goro in Madama Butterfly, Bob Boles of Blly Budd, Armand des Grieux of Boulevard Solitude, Arbace in Idomeneo, Spoletta of Tosca in the production by  Robert Carsen, Pang in Turandot at the reopening of the Theater in 1999 and in 2005 with a production by Núria Espert, Mime of Das Rheingold and many others. More recently he sang in productions by Gilbert Deflo (Pikovaya Dama), Harry Kupfer (Das Rheingold), Uwe Eric Laufenberg (Der Rosenkavalier), Calixto Bieito (Carmen) and Nick Ashton (Falstaff). In the last season he made his debut as White Minister in Le Grand Macabre (Ligeti) in the spectacular production by La Fura dels Baus, company with whom he had worked in previous seasons in DQ in Barcelona (Turina) at Gran Teatre del Liceu and Atlántida (Falla) in Granada. Also he debuts the role of Abate di Chazeuil in acclaimed production of Adriana Lecouvreur (Cilea) by David McVicar, with who he also participated in Manon (Massenet), receiving exceptional reviews from the public and international press.

He works regularly with conductors as Sebastian Weigle, Michael Boder, Josep Pons, Victor Pablo Pérez, Bertrand de Billy, Maurizio Benini, Marc Piollet, Fabio Luisi, Harry Bicket, among many others.

Francisco Vas appears on several recordings of discographics as Deutsch Grammophon, Opus Arte, Unitel Classica, EMI, Bel Air, among others. It should be pointed Les Contes d’Hoffmann with Patricia Petibon, Gurrelieder with Melanie Diener, Manon with Natalie Dessay and Rolando Villazon, with Peter Seiffert in Tannhäuser or Carmen with Roberto Alagna and Beatrice Uria Monzon.

His recent engagements are Edrisi in Krol Roger at the Palacio Euskalduna, at the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Andres, Cochenille, Franz and Pitichinaccio in Les Contes d’Hoffmann, his debut in the role of Loge in Das Rheingold, Goro in Madama Butterfly, Wozzeck at the Teatro Real in Madrid, the return to his acclaimed Abate Chazeuil in Adriana Lecouvreur in the Palacio Euskalduna and Tosca in the Gran Teatre del Liceu.

The next appearance of Francisco Vas will be in the production of Carmen in Avenches Opera and his gorgeous Incredibile in Andrea Chénier at the Festival Castell de Peralada.
